CEO Smartdc
The journey of Smartdc.
It started when I was working as a real eastate manager for datacenters. At one of the locations, " Spaanse Kubus" I've got to know Stijn Koster who was interested in datacenter space for his company i3D.net. After a few meetings we came up with the idea to make our own datacenter as a new brand in the Dutch market.
With this idea I started to devellop our idea and found out that a lot of money was needed to start business. After making a solid business case, which was simple but affective, then I started to look for funds. In the end I managed to have a private investor active and we 've got to the banks for the rest of the investment.
With limited cash we had to come up with a plan that we could start our operation. So the modular datacenter was borm. On the one end it served the purpose of our cash flow, just invest only that what is needed, and on the other hand, due to small modules, clients having an extra line of defence where a fire just couses one module to fail instead of the whole datacenter.
This is why SMARTDC is the perfect name where it serves multpiple purposes and is cathcy on the other hand. Smart data center was born!
15 years with great enthusiasmin and joy I worked as CEO when it was sold to Ubisoft (as part of i3D.net).
